Dr. Mark Summers, the Thomas D. Clark Professor of History at the University of Kentucky, will speak on “The Partisan Press of the 1860s” during the American Civil War Museum’s Foundry Series program 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Historic Tredegar, 490 Tredegar St.

Dr. Summers will talk about how biased or limited views of the world impacted the political divide before, during and after the Civil War.

He will be joined by James Wallace of the Richmond Times-Dispatch and David Streever of RVA Magazine for a panel discussion after his talk on similarities between the media climate then and now.

A reception before the talk starts at 6 p.m.

The event is $10 for adults and $8 for museum members.
