Virginia Union and Virginia State universities have been awarded National Park Service grants to aid in the preservation and upgrade of aging campus buildings, 4th District Congressman A. Donald McEachin announced Tuesday.

VUU will receive $500,000 to support renovations to Huntley Hall, a dormitory that dates to the early 1900s.

Meanwhile, VSU has been granted $274,278 to support work on Storum Hall and $493,815 for work on Vawter Hall. Storum Hall currently serves as a center for alumni affairs and university fundraising, while Vawter Hall, which dates to 1908, houses academic offices.
