A film about the quest of Richmond Free Press photographer Regina H. Boone to find out about her late grandfather who was imprisoned in a Japanese internment camp during World War II will be shown in Richmond.

“A Vanished Dream: Wartime Story of My Japanese Grandfather,” a documentary by Japanese international broadcast company NHK-WORLD JAPAN, will be shown during a program 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, 428 N. Arthur Ashe Blvd.

Ms. Boone and Miki Ebara, a foreign correspondent and executive producer with the broadcast company, will speak following the screening.

Ms. Boone was acting on a deathbed request by her late father, Free Press founder and former publisher/editor Raymond H. Boone Sr., to find out what happened to his dad.

The broadcast company helped to unravel the mystery.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is part of the museum’s Created Equal film series.
