Kind acts should be recognized

There are many acts of kindness in the Richmond community that I think go unrecognized and deserve more attention.
I’d like to point out three that I know of:
Eight-year-old Marty Cobb was killed last May trying to protect his 12-year-old sister from a sexual assault. He made the greatest sacrifice: He gave his life for his sister.
Longtime community activist Donald Hatcher, who died in February, always fought tooth and nail for equal justice for everyone and is sorely missed.
And the late Dr. Vernon J. Harris, a longtime Richmond dentist, once took the time to provide assistance to a little girl who could not walk and his efforts later helped her to walk.
These were all acts of pure kindness that have stuck in my mind.
