Fallen Angels event remembered loved ones in Highland Park

Celebrating with joy and not grief, the neighborhood of Highland Park remembered the untimely deaths of loved ones in the local community. The Fallen Angels event included area residents and friends gathered at Ann Hardy Plaza on First Avenue in North Side.
The program was coordinated by Ms. Joanne Chancellor and Ms. Robinette Lawson, who organized volunteers to grill hamburgers and hot dogs that, along with beverages and chips, were provided at no charge.
With more than 200 jubilant guests on a pleasant Saturday afternoon, May 9, the only disputes that could be witnessed were who would be in the next photo op.
The coordinators also had a moonwalk for the kids, dance music and help with restoration of rights for those in need.
While another metropolitan shooting would draw more media attention, it’s sad that organized fellowships such as this that bind the city together in a more positive manner failed to gain a spotlight.
