Expand Medicaid in the commonwealth
11/25/2015, 10:56 p.m.
Expanding Medicaid in Virginia should be the dominant issue in the Virginia General Assembly session that begins in January.
More than 400,000 low income individuals in Virginia would get health insurance if Medicaid is expanded in the state. Plus, the commonwealth stands to lose billions of dollars in federal Medicaid funds over the next few years and will not benefit from the thousands of jobs that an expansion would create. Local hospitals around the state would benefit greatly.
Our state ultimately will be judged on how we treat the least of these, our brothers and sisters. You are not looking good, Virginia.
