The Clinton-Kaine campaign is bringing out the stars.

Award-winning actress Tichina Arnold, known best for her roles in “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Martin” and now “Survivor’s Remorse” on the STARZ network, joined phone bank volunteers last Friday at the Clinton-Kaine campaign headquarters in Richmond’s Scott’s Addition to urge people to support the Democratic presidential candidate.

Ms. Arnold, a self-proclaimed political junkie with personal ties to Virginia (her mother is from Norfolk and her 87-year-old grandmother lives in Chesapeake), was on her way to Los Angeles from the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia when she made a pit stop in Richmond to support the Clinton-Kaine campaign.

“I began to get extremely involved in politics when Obama ran for office,” Ms. Arnold shared during a brief phone interview with the Free Press. “It is especially important that we remain a part of the political process, particularly in response to young black men being murdered by police and the negativity toward our community.”

As the concerned mother of a 12-year-old daughter, Ms. Arnold clearly showed a passion for politics at the event, part of a nationwide effort to commit more than 3 million Americans to vote in the Nov. 8 election.

She discussed her support for Hillary Clinton with volunteers and made phone calls to potential Clinton-Kaine voters.

Ms. Arnold talked about the power of unity and the limitations of fear.

“Hillary is an inspiration,” she told the Free Press. “We’re stronger together.”
