Sylvia Y. Cyrus, executive director of the Association for the Study of African-American Life and History, will participate in a community meeting to recruit volunteers and panel members for the organization’s 101st national conference slated to be held in Richmond in October.

The community meeting will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at the L. Douglas Wilder Library & Learning Resource Center, 1500 N. Lombardy St.

Volunteers are needed to help recruit local vendors and artisans, history makers to serve on panels, potential sponsors, session monitors and local entertainers for the national conference Oct. 5 through 9. The 2016 conference theme: “Hallowed Grounds: Sites of African-American Memories.”
