Nico Marley, taking a cue from his famous grandfather, Jamaican reggae legend Bob Marley, would like to “stir it up” regarding Washington’s NFL roster.

Marley, jersey No. 46, is trying out at the team’s Bon Secours Training Center in Richmond as an undersized and undrafted rookie free agent linebacker.

The 5-foot-8, 200-pound Marley signed with Washington on May 16 following a standout career at Tulane University, where he is the university’s all-time leader in tackles for losses.

Known as an aggressive hard hitter, he was an All-American Athletic Conference pick as a junior and senior.

Marley’s father, Rohan Marley, starred at the University of Miami and played with the Ottawa Rough Riders in the Canadian Football League.

His son, Nico, was born in Haiti and lived two years in Jamaica before moving to the Miami area at age 4. He drew Tulane’s attention playing at Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Fla.

Washington seems well fortified at the linebacker position with a crop of veterans and with second round draft pick Ryan Anderson from Alabama.

Marley’s best chance of making the team might be as practice squad member.

There must be some link between football and music.

Justin Combs, son of P. Diddy, and Cordell Broadus, son of Snoop Dogg, recently played for UCLA.
