Virginia Commonwealth University’s already tough non-conference basketball schedule appears to have gotten even tougher.

According to multiple sources, the Rams will face Seton Hall University on Dec. 9 in the Never Forget Tribute Classic on Seton Hall’s home floor, the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

CBS is televising the doubleheader that also will feature the University of Florida against the University of Cincinnati.

In addition, VCU has non-Atlantic 10 Conference games with the University of Virginia and the University of Texas, both set for the Siegel Center in Richmond, and a trip to the Maui Invitational in Hawaii on Nov. 20 through Nov. 22. Other Maui tournament entries are California, Louisiana State University, Marquette, Notre Dame, Michigan, Wichita and host Chaminade University in Honolulu.

Seton Hall was 21-12 last season, losing to Villanova in the final of the Big East Tournament and to Arkansas in the first round of the NCAAs.

VCU has met Seton Hall once before, losing to the Pirates in 2010.

Under first-year Rams Coach Mike Rhoades, VCU will be seeking an eighth straight trip to the NCAAs.

The Never Forget Tribute Classic benefits the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund, which has awarded $115.9 million to 2,825 dependents of people killed or injured in the 9/11 terrorist attacks and rescue efforts.
