Details for voting in Feb. 21 congressional election

Deadlines are approaching to vote early in the 4th Congressional District election to replace the late U.S. Rep. A. Donald McEachin.
The two contestants are Democratic state Sen. Jennifer L. McClellan of Richmond and Republican Leon Benjamin, a Richmond minister. In-person voting will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Richmond and the 14 other localities in the district, including Chesterfield and Henrico counties.
Requests for absentee mail-in ballots must be submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, according to the state Department of Elections.
The voter registration deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, if done in person and 11:59 p.m. if done online, the department stated.
Early voting is now open and will continue through Saturday, Feb. 18, election officials stated.
In Richmond, early voting is being offered at the Richmond Voter Registrar’s Office, 2134 W. Laburnum Ave., and at the Hickory Hill Community Center, 3000 E. Belt Blvd.
