The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference is gearing up for its second annual Girls on the Gridiron Flag Football Clinic, with former NFL quarterback Michael Vick slated to make a special appearance. The event, set for Sunday, July 21, aims to introduce more young women to the growing sport of flag football.

Scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at Norfolk State University’s Dick Price Stadium, the clinic will offer girls age 12 and older a chance to learn football skills and strategy. Vick, a four-time Pro Bowl selection during his NFL career, will share his expertise alongside student athletes and coaches.

“This is especially special for me because I am a girl dad that has seen how Flag Football has impacted my daughter’s life as she received a college scholarship to play,” Vick said. “This is great for the MEAC and I am excited to be a part of this year’s event.”

MEAC Commissioner Sonja Stills emphasized the conference’s commitment to promoting women’s athletics. “With the growth of women’s flag football nationally, the MEAC is proud to champion the sport and its upwards trajectory,” Stills said.

Participants are advised to wear athletic gear and bring water bottles. MEAC will provide free camp uniform kits. Registration begins at 5 p.m. on the day of the event.
