Virginia State University softball center fielder Hailey Darrington has been named CIAA Player of the Year.
The junior from Manchester High is joined on the All-CIAA Team by teammates Kara Green, Mylia Knight, Jaya Diggs-Hagwood and Alaijah Pratt. Skye Corum made the second team.
Finishing 25-5, VSU won the CIAA Northern Division title but was eliminated by Claflin University in the loser’s bracket finals of the CIAA tournament in Glen Allen.
Virginia Union University finished 8-22 after losing both of its games in the tournament.
