The 15-story office building that will house the Virginia General Assembly is taking shape at 9th and Broad streets across from Richmond City Hall. Gilbane Construction expects to complete the work in 2021, in time for the 2022 legislative session. Work began three years ago with the demolition of the former office building. The project is part of a $300 million state investment in Capitol Square that includes the renovation of Old City Hall and construction of a parking deck on the east side of the new General Assembly Building.
