Rev. Alexander ‘JJ’ James III, associate pastor of Trinity Baptist, dies at 42

Just a few hours after welcoming the Rev. Jesse Jackson to his church last Sunday, Trinity Baptist Church’s pastor, the Rev. A. Lincoln James Jr., and his wife, Mary P. James, suffered a shattering loss.
Their son, the Rev. Alexander Lincoln “JJ” James III, an associate pastor at the North Side church, died suddenly on Sunday, July 30, 2017.
The family has not been available to comment, but friends reported that he choked to death while eating. He was 42.
His funeral is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at Trinity Baptist Church, 2811 Fendall Ave., with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
A viewing will be held 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at Wilson & Associates Funeral Home, 5008 Nine Mile Road.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Amey Blount James; two daughters, Alexa James and Amia James; a brother, Torrey James; and a sister, Alexandra L. James, all of Richmond.
