Richmond gained a separate jobs boost Wednesday as TemperPack, an innovative packaging manufacturer, announced plans to invest $2 million to double its workforce in South Side.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Mayor Levar M. Stoney and other state officials joined company representatives in celebrating the two-year-old company’s plans to add equipment and 23 jobs at its headquarters and factory in the 3800 block of Castlewood Road.

The company produces insulated packaging that is designed to be recycled and cut waste.

The governor called TemperPack’s expansion supportive of efforts to diversify the state’s economy.

He praised the company for creating affordable products that also cut the flow of packaging into landfills.

Founded in 2015, TemperPack has sought to make its mark with unique insulation products.

“We take pride in re-engineering recycled, natural materials into innovative, powerful packaging that keeps food and pharmaceutical products fresh during transport, nationally and globally,” said Charles Vincent, who co-founded the company with Brian Powers.

“Our mission,” Mr. Powers said, “is to help companies deliver more to consumers while wasting less.”
