After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Richmond’s annual “Candlelight Festival of Lessons and Carols” will return for its 49th year to ring in the Christmas holiday season.

The University of Richmond Chaplaincy will host two services at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, in Cannon Memorial Chapel at 134 UR Drive. The UR Department of Music, the Schola Cantorum and Women’s Chorale will perform a medley of new and old Christmas carols.

A musical prelude will begin 20 minutes before each service, and the event will end with the lighting of candles and a rendition of “Silent Night.”
