In a landmark moment for local sports history, the Chesterfield County Sports Hall of Fame, presented by Virginia Credit Union, has announced its inaugural class of inductees.

The selection committee, faced with an overwhelming response of over 40 nominations, chose to honor 10 individuals who have made significant contributions to the county’s rich sporting legacy.

The 2024 inaugural class represents a diverse range of sports and achievements.

“The selection committee was overwhelmed by the number of exceptional nominations submitted for this inaugural class of the Chesterfield Sports Hall of Fame. Because of the sheer volume of top-notch nominations, the committee members decided to induct 10 individuals this year instead of the five they had originally planned. Chesterfield is home to some of the most talented athletes and coaches in the nation, and this inaugural class showcases the diverse range of talent these inductees exhibit,” said J.C. Poma, executive director of the county’s Sports, Visitation and Entertainment Department.

The inductees will be honored with a physical display at the River City Sportsplex in Midlothian. A celebratory banquet is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Perkinson Center for the Arts and Education in Chester.
