 Dream Entertainment will host its 19th annual Southern Soul Celebration on Saturday, Aug. 23 at Mr. B’s Park in Woodford. 

Dr. Nick will serve as emcee for the event, which features live music from DJ Ernest and The Groove Machine. Performers also include Big G, Jeff Floyd and MC Tonya and Stone Pleasure. 

The celebration will include the crowning of “Miss Southern Soul,” door prizes and on-site food vendors. Attendees must be 25 or older and are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Tents are not permitted. 

The venue is located at 7243 Gatewood Road at the intersection of U.S. Route 1 and Gatewood Road. It is accessible via Interstate 95, Exit 110 in Ladysmith. 

Big G, born George Staten Sr. in Charlotte County, began his professional singing career in 1997. He released his debut solo album, “Steppin’ Out,” in 1999 on his own Stone River Records label. He has recorded more than 16 albums, including “Love On The Run,” “Broken Hearted” and “Lonely Tears.”
