NewsOne has launched a new monthly series, “Freedom Table,” hosted by social justice leader Rashad Robinson. The series will bring together organizers, journalists, business leaders and culture-makers to discuss ways to protect democracy and strengthen Black communities.

The first episode, set to air Dec. 31, will feature writer Josie Duffy Rice, film producer Franklin Leonard, activist Kendrick Sampson and TV critic Eric Deggans. Discussions will cover media, activism, economics, health care and culture.

“NewsOne is proud to partner with the indomitable Rashad Robinson at this pivotal, political moment,” said Kirsten West Savali, vice president of content at iONE Digital. “And there is no one more capable of bringing community together at the ‘Freedom Table’ to struggle and grow, to practice radical love and build collective power, than Rashad.”

The series follows the release of the Normalizing Injustice 2 report, which Robinson led while at Color Of Change. The report analyzed 71 crime-related TV shows and found that the genre continues to normalize harmful stereotypes about Black communities and the justice system. Robinson is expected to discuss the report’s findings on “Freedom Table.”

In addition to hosting the series, Robinson will publish monthly op-eds and occasional explainer videos on NewsOne. He also plans to release a book in 2026 that combines stories from the frontlines of social change with strategies for organizing and winning campaigns.

Robinson, a nationally recognized strategist, led Color Of Change for 13 years and has worked at GLAAD. He continues to drive campaigns aimed at influencing culture, policy and media narratives.
