Free Press staff report | 3/6/2025, 6 p.m.

In response to growing concerns about the safety and well-being of young girls, the Iota Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority will host its annual Youth Symposium on March 8 at Fairfield Middle School.

The event, themed “For the Girls,” will begin at 9:30 a.m. and offer mentorship, leadership development and personal safety awareness for girls ages 8 to 18. Interactive workshops will cover topics such as self-care, cyber safety, healthy relationships and leadership skills.

The Youth Symposium, which has been held annually since 1996, is a community-driven initiative to support and empower young girls. The event is open to the public and offers opportunities for sponsorships, partnerships and volunteer involvement.
