Agecroft Hall and Gardens will host a free concert and family-friendly activities on Mother’s Day, inviting visitors to explore the historic site and its gardens.

On Sunday, May 11, the 16th-century English Tudor manor will offer complimentary garden admission from noon to 5 p.m. Visitors can explore the lush gardens, trails, and scenic views of the James River. While no registration is required for the garden visit, it is recommended.

“Spring is a beautiful time for our gardens, and Mother’s Day is the perfect occasion to relax outdoors with family,” said Anne Kenny-Urban, executive director of Agecroft Hall and Gardens. “It’s always heartwarming to see families enjoying each other’s company in this serene setting.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs and can purchase frozen custard, baked goods, and cold-pressed juices. Pets, except for service animals, are not allowed on the grounds.

Tours of the historic house will be offered throughout the day.

A free concert will take place on Agecroft Hall’s front lawn from 6 to 7:30 p.m., featuring the Richmond Concert Band. The “Songs Without Words” program will include a mix of musical styles, ranging from popular television and film themes to marches and light classical selections.

“We’ll be playing tunes everyone will recognize, even without lyrics,” said Mark Poland, director of the Richmond Concert Band. “We’re also excited to showcase some of our talented musicians playing instruments ranging from saxophones to anvil!”

The concert is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be rescheduled for May 18 at 6 p.m.
