Cristo Rey Richmond High School has appointed Cynthia Coleman as its new vice president of advancement, the school announced Tuesday.

Coleman, a nonprofit leader with extensive experience in philanthropy, strategic planning and mission-driven fundraising, most recently served as senior director of philanthropy at YWCA Richmond. There, she oversaw major donor relations, managed a robust grant portfolio, led strategic communications initiatives and helped guide growth in philanthropic support.

Earlier in her career, Coleman held senior leadership and compliance roles at Altria/Philip Morris, where she managed teams, complex initiatives and collaborative partnerships.

A graduate of the University of Virginia, Coleman holds a law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law. She currently serves as chair of the board of trustees at Trinity Episcopal School, where she has held multiple leadership roles.

“I am excited to join the Cristo Rey family where we help build bright futures for our deserving young men and women,” Coleman said. “Providing access, opportunity and educational excellence for students of limited economic means is work that transforms families and communities.”
