Abdul, with Mak Crafts, shows 8-year-old Dallas Clarke a hand crafted instruments at the 43rd Annual Carytown Watermelon Festival in Carytown on Sunday Aug 10. The event filled Cary Street with more than 100 vendors and artisans selling everything from crafts and teas to food, cups of fresh watermelon, and watermelon-flavored treats and drinks. The event featured live music across five stages, with additional small entertainment acts scattered throughout the street. Activities for all ages included face painting, a children’s area, and carnival rides.
