Community efforts bring warmth to students-Community groups and organizations stepped in last week to help Richmond students stay warm as colder weather sets in, with two separate coat distribution effort reaching hundreds of children. Chuck Bradby, president of Club 533, unpacks new coats for students at Carver Elementary School on Dec. 12 as part of the group’s midyear coat drive. Across the city, members of Club 533 organized a separate coat drive to support students at Carver Elementary School. The historic Jackson Ward-based group collected
more than 100 coats, with an additional 20 donated by
Brothers and Sisters Combined Professional Firefighters Inc.
The coats were delivered Dec. 12 and will be distributed
to students Friday. (photo by Julianne Tripp Hillian/Richmond Free Press)
