Community efforts bring warmth to students-Community groups and organizations stepped in last week to help Richmond students stay warm as colder weather sets in, with two separate coat distribution effort reaching hundreds of children. Across the city, members of Club 533 organized a separate coat drive to support students at Carver Elementary School. The historic Jackson Ward-based group collected
more than 100 coats, with an additional 20 donated by
Brothers and Sisters Combined Professional Firefighters Inc.
The coats were delivered Dec. 12 and will be distributed
to students Friday. Carlin Gibson Sr. (from left); James Henson; Chuck Bradby; Robert Lester; Carver Elementary School Principal Teresa Anderson; Kofi K.
