Gayle Turner, a first cousin of Bruce Oliver Tucker, the involuntary donor for Virginia’s first heart transplant in 1968, addresses attendees at VCU Health’s unveiling ceremony of a mural honoring Tucker March 5. The event included the renaming of the McGlothlin Medical Education Center auditorium in honor of Tucker and the unveiling of a mural displayed outside the renamed Bruce Oliver Tucker Auditorium. The mural was designed by Virginia Commonwealth University students Haley Salon, Yara Jeff and Zoe Jeweler, who collaborated with Tucker’s family and Richmond artist Hamilton Glass.
