...Hot temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above normal continue through
Thursday...
.A strong ridge of high pressure will continue to build over the
region bringing highs well into the 90s to the triple digits
along with warm overnight lows across the inland west side
valleys and the high desert of Lake County.
...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM PDT THIS EVENING...
* Temperatures...Highs of 95 to 103 degrees today will follow lows
between 60 and 70 degrees.
* Locations include...The Rogue Valley including areas from
Grants Pass to Ashland, Shady Cove, Trail, Galice, Merlin,
portions of the Applegate Valley including Ruch, and areas in
southern Douglas County, including near Azalea and Tiller.
* Impacts...Very hot daytime temperatures, warm overnight low
temperatures, and wildfire smoke, will increase chances for
heat related illness, especially for sensitive groups and
people without access to air conditioning. Heat stress is also
possible for livestock and outdoor pets. Smoke is likely to
exacerbate heat related issues, especially for vulnerable
populations.

...Hot Temperatures Expected Through Labor Day...
.High pressure will persist over the region today and bring hot
temperatures. Relief even at night will be limited, as lows are
expected to fall into the mid 60s to lower 70s for much of the
area. While smoke from area wildfires will keep temperatures less
hot than they might otherwise be, it will also pose a health
problem for those seeking relief by opening windows, or attempting
any outdoor activities.

* Maximum Temperatures: 95 to 103 degrees.
* Minimum Temperatures: 60 to 70 degrees.
* Locations include: All areas west of the Cascades, Including
the cities of Drain, Elkton, Roseburg, Sutherlin, Green,
Myrtle Creek, Canyonville, Glendale, Grants Pass, Cave
Junction, Steamboat, Toketee Falls, Medford, Ashland, Union
Creek, and Siskiyou Summit
* Impacts: Very warm temperatures and somewhat limited relief
overnight will increase chances for heat related illness,
especially for sensitive groups and people without access to
air conditioning. Heat stress is also possible for livestock
and outdoors pets.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...
* A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected.
* These hot temperatures may create a situation in which heat
illnesses are possible.
* Drink plenty of fluids, and limit time spent in the heat and
in the sun.
* Check up on relatives and neighbors, as well as outdoor pets
and livestock.
* Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true
during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.
