To the moon and beyond

Whatever President Trump does is rightly met with skepticism.

• Work at NASA has helped develop aircraft anti-icing systems, advanced radial tires and highway surface grooving to increase traction and driver safety.

    • Because of NASA, we have temper foam or “memory foam” mattresses and pillows, portable cordless vacuums, freeze-drying technology for food storage and reactors that use electricity “breathing” bacteria to clean wastewater and generate power at wineries and breweries.

We believe continued investment in the space program will spawn infinitely more products, tools and devices that will become integral parts of our lives.

July 20 will mark the 50th anniversary of man’s historic landing on the moon by Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. Commander Armstrong’s first steps on the moon were broadcast worldwide, with his words becoming immortal: “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

That historic feat gave our country hope and inspired many young people to enter careers in science, mathematics and engineering. Hope and inspiration are two things our nation is in great need of today. We believe continued high-profile lunar and space exploration will propel America’s young men and women to even greater heights and lead our country to bigger and better things that can benefit people around the globe.

As NASA states: Moon to Mars 2024!
