Voting is your right and your power.

And on Nov. 5, Virginia will hold elections for the 140 seats in the General Assembly.

Several local contests also will be on the ballot, including in the cities of Richmond and Petersburg and in Henrico, Chesterfield and Hanover counties.

The deadline to register to vote in the November election, or to update your registration with a name change or change of address, is Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Can’t get to the polls on Nov. 5?

In-person absentee voting is taking place now at local election offices.

To vote absentee by mail, the request for an absentee ballot must be submitted by Tuesday, Oct. 29.
