Virginia Union and Bowie State universities continue on a collision course.

The CIAA women’s basketball rivals will meet for the fourth time this season Friday, March, 13, in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regionals at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Tipoff is set for 2:30 p.m.

The Lady Panthers are 23-4 overall, but 1-2 against Bowie State this season. The teams split two regular season games. Then Bowie State topped VUU 53-41 in the CIAA semifinals Feb. 28 in Charlotte, N.C.

The Lady Panthers are seeded fifth and Bowie State (25-5) fourth in the NCAA regional.

Bowie State is a longtime nemesis of the Lady Panthers. In March 2018, Bowie State upset VUU 63-56 in NCAA action at Barco-Stevens Hall on the VUU campus.

Other first round matchups at the regional:

• No. 1 seed Indiana University of Pennsylvania versus No. 8 Fayetteville State University

• No. 2 Gannon University of Pennsylvania versus No. 7 California University of Pennsylvania.

• No. 3 Glenville State College of West Virginia versus No. 6 Notre Dame College of Ohio.

The semifinals will be Saturday, March 14, and the final on Monday, March 16.

The regional champion advances to the Elite Eight in Birmingham, Ala.
