Honored for public service // State Sen. Rosalyn R. Dance of Petersburg, who represents parts of Richmond and four other localities in the General Assembly, is recognized by the Richmond City Council on Monday night for nearly 25 years of public service. As an elected official, she previously served in the House of Delegates and on Petersburg City Council for 12 years, including several terms as Petersburg mayor from 1992 to 2004. Rallying for ‘sanctuary’ // With signs and chants, more than 100 immigration advocates rally Monday afternoon outside City Hall to urge Richmond Mayor Levar M. Stoney and the Richmond City Council to declare Richmond a “sanctuary city” and defy stepped-up federal efforts to deport people who lack green cards or student, work or visitation visas. Later, advocates pushed their view during the public comment session of the evening’s council meeting. So far, they have not moved government leaders, including the mayor, who has avoided using the “sanctuary” term.

Mr. Baldwin came to rally support for Ms. Pohl, who is seeking to upset Republican incumbent Sen. Amanda Chase in the 11th Senate District. Along with the visit to the Richmond suburb, Mr. Baldwin also made campaign stops for candidates in Fredericksburg and Fairfax County.
